Concert: The Double Down Daredevils

$10
at Hobgoblin Music

The Double Down Daredevils are a Minnesota based Bluegrass Band playing Bluegrass and Americana music with a special emphasis on 2, 3 and 4 part vocal harmonies.

They are a kind of “Bluegrass boys meets The Oak Ridge Boys” group.

The Double Down Daredevils deliver a fresh blend of music that evokes a more sophisticated take on the genre - the tunes appeal to a wide audience, they play with a respect for the classics but take no prisoners when it comes to pushing the bluegrass genre to the edge. This band is clever, seasoned in eclectic versatility and just plain fun!

Fall Concert Series: Bill Staines

Fall Concert Series: Bill Staines

On stage, Staines is an intimate, compelling performer, out of the folk scene of the 60’s, encouraging his audience to sing with him on his chorus songs. He will mix in traditional tunes with his own contemporary folk ballads. His humorous tales of life on the road and observations of everyday people provide an entertaining blend of story and song.

“I have always wanted to bring something of value to people with my songs. I think that is important, to try to write beyond myself, to write to the great things that we all experience in our lives.”

For Bill, that is what folk music is all about--a music rich in the human experience and spirit.

Entry is $15

Fall Concert Series: Long Time Gone

The “Golden Era” of bluegrass may be a long time gone — but not to the members of Long Time Gone. This band brings back to life the classic bluegrass hits of the 1950s, hearkening back to an era when Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs and The Stanley Brothers ruled the country airwaves.

Ben Manning (guitar) and Katryn Conlin (string bass) anchor the band’s rhythm section while three of the region’s leading instrumentalists, Barry St. Mane (banjo), Mark Kreitzer (mandolin) and Mike Hildebrandt (fiddle), trade dazzling breaks.

Long Time Gone isn’t just about traditional bluegrass. The band branches out into old-timey songs of the 1920s and original songs written by band members. Double fiddle tunes, a touch of Celtic, hard-driving banjo instrumentals and quite a bit of instrument swapping keeps Long Time Gone shows entertaining.

Entry is $15
