Quarantine Poetry: Open Water
During the pandemic of this year, I've been writing a poem each day and posting it to Facebook. Most of my poems are celebrations of natural beauty; a few are ethical/political commentaries with some bite.

The Big River slows and flattens
becoming once again "Spirit Lake" (mni wak'áŋ)
"Eye of Heaven", Deep Peace of Earth-and-Sky.
Everything along this line is doubled:
limestone cliffs and hardwood forests,
dark green flames of pine,
now there are two:
above & below, actual & reflected.
When the heart-mind enters this serene horizon
differences fall away
where there were two, now just one:
clear light, open water
all the way home.
